Does the UTEE always turn that golden color, or did you let it cook a while to get that color. I always thought it melted clear. In this particular project the yellowing works great because it lends an aged or vintage appearance. But supposing I want more of a clear resin look? Do I just have to be careful I don't over cook the UTEE granules?

Is this just a burlap backing? I just acquired a speed shuttle, and I am having trouble using it with a regular "rug hooking" backing.

Interesting machine, but no longer available? I purchased a different hot foil machine recently from Creative Printers of London. They offer great machines and excellent services even to the other side of the world

I have one of these hooking tools. I bought it on eBay if anyone is interested in buying one. I paid $25.00 for it in the states. Search for Tru-Guide and it's made by the Wilson Brothers of Springfield, Montana. I saw quite a few on eBayt. Perhaps Etsy will have a few too. Good luck.

what type of yarn does one use?

I have just purchased a brand new Impress machine for £85 - can't wait for it to arrive. New company now produces it under licence called 'Crafty Chique

This is a very interesting vintage tool. I think the reason it's not really used anymore is because they invented the punch needle and it's a bit easier to see where you are punching and can do it single handed. Most punch needles I've seen on the market are for lighter yarn weights but I'm sure you can find one big enough to accommodate fabric strips.

This company needs to re-enter the market! Fantastic product! So versetile!

It is amazing how versatile this machine is. That this was published almost 7 years ago is impressive. In the US everyone is using toner to foil. Doesn't seem like anyone is moving on consumerizing (yeah I made up that word) the existing hot foil industry.
